Yesterday we celebrated 1 week of Ava! She is truly a perfect baby and we couldn't love her more. On Thursday we had our first big day out of the house. We met with the lactation consultant from the hospital and she was impressed with both Ava's latch and her big weight gain (11 ounces)! After we left the hospital we had a yummy lunch at Pita Garden in Cocoa Beach. The family who owns the restaurant just loved her and teased that they were honored her first day out was spent there. Next, we were off to see her pediatrician, Dr. Acosta. We just loved him and the way he handled our Peanut Pie. He too was impressed with her big weight gain and actually re-weighed her so he could see the numbers with his own two eyes. On our way home we needed a few things so Ava was introduced to the wonders of Target! It was a successful trip and I was glad to have it under our belt. Gone are the fly by the seat of our pants kind of days!
In addition to being a great nurser Ava is sleeping for 3-4 hour stretches. She loves to be swaddled and Daddy does a great job of getting her snug as a bug. When she wakes for a feeding she usually fills up her tummy and then zonks back out.
I can't believe she is here. And that she is already one week old. And that she is ours. Ours. Thank you Lord for this beautiful blessing we call Peanut.
